One Step From Eden, an indie game designed by developer Thomas Moon Kang, is currently slated for a release sometime later this month (its Steam Store page simply lists an early 2020 release date, but it was announced elsewhere for January 2020 and there's currently no word to the contrary). Without the literal time-slow effect of Chrono, just not having her default weapon, forcing you to not always fire as much as you can with ZR, will seriously change how people see the game if they get far (and it's really not far in at all before you unlock Chrono). It's like that at first because you don't know what you're doing, but over time, you will see you can play the game at a drastically slower pace and probably see more success. Something I keep seeing people mention is how fast-paced it is - it's only really fast-paced if you're not familiar with enemy patterns, and if you're just throwing out your skills randomly, and of course - constantly firing with Saffron's default weapon (I assume the people saying it's fast-paced haven't unlocked other characters, or Saffron's Chrono style). Im a game dev currently working on a MMBN inspired roguelike, One Step From Eden. It's not really the same as MMBN, influenced, sure - but it's not a replacement, there's a lot of differences. Summary: Build a powerful deck, cast spells on the fly, battle evolving enemies, find game-changing artifacts, make friends or make enemies, just make it to Eden.
